Experience and Capabilities

Broad Experience - With extensive experience in diverse sectors; experience that spans management, technology delivery, assurance and end-user engagements the knowledge and capabilities that are brought to bear can make that critical difference. Having successfully undertaken development management, solution definition, design, implementation, testing, deployments, evaluation and roll outs there exists the ability to operate in all parts of the solution supply chain. Few cam match this breadth and diversity of knowledge within a small team. The mutlidisciplinary nature of this experience and the broad skill set and knowledge base it provides produce a capacity to take on and master the most challenging assignments.

Technical Ability - Unusually for an organisation that does not directly deliver software and IT solutions we pride ourselves on our technical capability. An ability to fully understand the technologies we encounter and to work effectively with them. This technical competence shapes our activities, informs our decision making and permits us to technically integrate our activities with the wider programme. We do not accept that technology is the field of the developers and that programmes can be governed and assured effectively when there is little in-depth understanding of the technology, its risk and how it fails. This technical ability distinguishes our offering and capabilities from other, more mainstream, suppliers in this arena.

End-use Perspective - In all our activities great emphasis is placed on user and customer experience and on the overall fitness for purposes of the solution that will emerge. No assumption is ever made that the target the delivery team are working towards is inherently the right thing. Our origins in the field of software testing combines with the extensive assurance experience of the team to reinforce this ethos and to ensure that a true and balanced understanding of the really important success factors guides our activities.

Known Quantities - Being small we can carefully select who works under the SQC banner. We field a mixture of employees and people who choose to associate with us and who we choose to associate with. We work with people who match our broad capabilities, ethos and quality standards. They are known quantifies we know we can depend on.

Our Thoughts The articles in this collection represent our views and opinions on issues in professional IT delivery. Naturally the bias is towards testing and management; however some articles range further afield. Shaped by our own experiences, both successes and failures, they aim to stimulate thought, debate and maybe change amongst readers. See the examples on the sidebar to the right
